Did Hawaii win?

I was telling my 10-year-old son, Colton, the significance of December 7th, 1941. I explained to him how the Japanese used carrier-based aircraft to bomb Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on an early Sunday morning sneak attack. Colton agreed with me that the soldiers and sailors must have been extraordinarily brave when I told him that many of the troops, though some suffered from battle wounds, were able to counter attack the invaders.

Then Colton, his eyes squinting in concentration, asked, “did Hawaii win?”

While we prepare for the Christmas season, let’s remember the sacrifice our troops made then and are making now. Thank you to all involved in the war on terrorism and all prior wars and conflicts!

Let’s also rejoice with Colton in the fact that Hawaii did win.
